Role of Corporates in Road Safety
Apr 05, 2016, FICCI, New Delhi
Road traffic injuries claim more than 1.2 million lives each year and have a huge impact on health and development. They are the leading cause of death among young people aged between 15 and 29 years, and cost governments approximately 3% of GDP. The Indian Industry can play a significant role in addressing the issue of road safety; however actions alone by the private sector may be insufficient. Therefore, collective action by the Indian Industry, civil society and Government may be an important approach to address this issue for which, United Nations has proclaimed 2011-20 as the Decade of Action on Road Safety.
