FICCI in association with Centre for Joint Warfare Studies ( CENJOWS ) is pleased to announce Small Arms India 2019: International Conference on Make in India Opportunities for Small Arms on Friday, 8 March 2019 at FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi, India.
The requirement of Small Arms for 1.2 Million Indian Army and nearly the same numbers for Paramilitary along with State Police Forces makes it a huge number of requirements. Currently needs are being fulfilled either by Ordnance Factory Board and Imports from Foreign OEMs across the world. The total number of small arms held by the Armed Forces, Para Military Forces and Police Forces are about 4 million pieces. Indian Army has more than 350 Infantry and 100 Special Forces Battalions and additional requirements of Indian Air Forces, Indian Navy, Central Armed Police Forces comprising Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, Indo Tibetan Border Police, Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Sashastra Seema Bal and National Security Guard makes a huge requirements.
Total projected requirements for small arms for the next 15 years are likely to be around 2 Million and estimated worth of USD 10-12 Billion Dollars. Over the last few years Indian Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces has raised more than 36 Global RFI / RFPs. The conference intends to focus on discussing the roadmap for creating India as Small Arms manufacturing hub covering both Small Arms and Light weapons like Revolver, Pistols, Rifles, Carbines, Machine Guns, Assault Rifles, Light Machine Guns etc ( Small Arms ) and Heavy Machine Guns, Hand Held Under Barrel Grenade Launchers, Portable Anti Aircraft Guns & Missiles Systems, Portable Anti-Tank Missiles & Mortar etc ( Light Arms ).
Industry issues on Policy front like Industrial Licenses, Security Manual Compliance and Foreign Direct Investments will be discussed with the concerned Ministries like Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Defence. Key officials from Indian Armed Forces, Special Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces will speak about their requirements and opportunities for Industry. Conference will be attended by Service officials from Armed Forces & Central Paramilitary Forces, DRDO, MoD, MHA, HQIDS, Foreign Defence Attaches and Indian & Foreign OEMs Industries.
