Govt says industry should make use of new technologies to reduce carbon emissions

The government today said, the industry should make use of the new technologies to reduce carbon emissions and called for a concrete road map of action.
Inaugurating the India Climate Policy and Business Conclave-2018 in New Delhi today, Environment, forest and Climate Change Secretary C K Mishra said, the government is working on a regulatory framework to facilitate climate change mitigation efforts of the industry.
He said, the request by the industry to allow it a couple of years more implementing emission norms and targets will be granted only it is accompanied by a concrete road map of action. Mr Mishra said, the government was also working on a pilot project on developing carbon pricing instruments, particularly for the waste and MSME sectors where the possibility of carbon reduction is maximum.
Several speakers, who addressed the Conclave, emphasized the urgent need for reducing Carbon emissions saying that the threat to the Nature cannot be ignored.
