Govt taking master plan for youths: Palak

The government has taken a master plan to develop the youth as tech-oriented workforce to face challenges of fourth industrial revolution (4IR), State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said on Wednesday.
The 4IR is a fusion of the digital, biological, and physical world, as well as the growing utilization of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and internet of things.
Addressing an international seminar, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak mentioned digital labs at institutional level facilitate computing knowledge to all students.
Palak made keynote at the ‘Global Young Leader Summit-2020’ organised virtually while FICCI Young Leaders Forum chair Shashwat Goenka presided over the session on Wednesday.
Indian state Haryana’s deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala and Forum co-chair Abhishek Ganguly also connected to the session on Wednesday.
Bangladesh minister mentioned that the government has made the ‘technology subject’ compulsory for secondary and higher secondary levels as they can cope with modern tool.
“With the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government has developed 68 Sheikh Kamal IT Incubation centres, School of Future and 13 thousands Sheikh Russel Digital Labs for developing skilled workforces.
Besides, the opportunities for youth have been decentralised expanding broadband interment up to union level through optical fibre network,” he explained the couple of initiatives in line with Digital Bangladesh programme.
Citing online labour index of Oxford Internet Institute, Palak further said Bangladesh has emerged as second largest territory of online freelancing with 0.6 million freelancers.
“In pandemic response, Bangladesh has leverage technology to save life of people as well as keep wheels of economy as the country attains 5.2 percent growth amid hit of the contagion,” he said while outlining government initiatives to tackle the corona situation.
“ICT Division has trained up 50 thousands of youths and women on digital technology amid corona virus pandemic,”
Palak shared the long-term strategy of Bangladesh to bring the gross domestic products to $700 billion by 2030 from present figure of $348 billion. Bangladesh is becoming the 26th largest economy in the world from the current 42nd position rankings in 2030, according to a prediction of HSBC Global Report.
