Create sustainable linkages with Industry

FICCI with its industry and institutional outreach has created a knowledge network of leading universities and companies with Tier II and Tier III institutions and local small and medium industry. The initiative, called National Knowledge Functional Hub (NKFH) was ideated in 2011 by Prof M Anandakrishnan, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Kanpur and ably led by Mr K Venkataramanan, CEO & and MD, Larsen & Toubro Limited. Since then, a nationwide campaign through Seminars, Conferences and articles in print media has been carried out to disseminate the NKFH concept and generate a network of Capital Goods companies and Engineering institutions committed to the idea. Leading companies and academic institutions in a region have come together as a “Hub” to facilitate mutually beneficial linkages. The “Hub” will create and sustain a network of “Spokes” with other companies and institutes in the region. Each Hub would be financially sustainable in due course of time with minimal support from the government. Initial seed funding is proposed to be generated with contributions from government, participating industry and institutions. This Concept included in 12th plan document on recommendation of Narayana Murthy.

FICCI Higher Education Committee has constituted Task Forces to work on the following areas:

  • Equity In Higher Education
  • FICCI Vision 2030 in States
  • New Education Policy 2015
  • Academy of Higher Education
  • Entrepreneurship

Facilitate Knowledge Sharing and Networking

FICCI has been organizing Higher Education Summit since 2004. Through this Summit, we bring together stakeholders including key policy makers, educationists and industry at both national and international level for deliberations and knowledge sharing. The discussion outcomes are then shared with the government at the highest level.

To commemorate the 10th year of the Summit, FICCI had launched the 1st FICCI Higher Education Excellence Awards’ in 2014 to recognize and felicitate the efforts of institutions and individuals exhibiting excellence in various spheres of Indian Higher Education.

FICCI has been organizing overseas delegation from time to time to facilitate interactions between Vice Chancellors, Deans, Faculty members, Academicians and representatives from Higher Education Institutes, Universities and Industry of various countries with an objective of sharing best practices and exploring opportunities for partnerships.
