Overview:

The favorable climatic conditions for use of Renewable Energy in India provide an abundant untapped potential for solar, biomass and other renewable energy sources. Renewable Energy in India has the ability to play an important role in grid connected as well as off-grid and decentralized power generation and applications. FICCI believes adoption of Renewable Energy is very important for India as it will increase energy security, energy access to for energy deprived population, reduce forex outgo and reduce our dependence on depleting fossil fuel resources. FICCI's Renewable Energy Division has taken up a broad spectrum of initiatives to promote and address industry's concerns from time to time on the generation and use of renewable energy.

The FICCI Renewable Energy Division works on renewable energy policy and regulatory issues, acts as a catalyst for business promotion, trade and investment linkages and represents voice of Indian industry at domestic and global foraums.

FICCI's work in the Solar Energy Space

The FICCI has constituted a Solar Energy Task Force was constituted in 2010 to accelerate the propagation of solar energy in India especially in the context of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) launched in January 2010. Since then, the Task Force has regularly met and interacted with the Government Authorities for JNNSM and other state solar policies to express industry's common views and concerns.

FICCI Solar Energy Task Force is a neutral platform to represent the common voice of the Indian solar industry as a whole to the Central and State Governments, other statutory authorities and stakeholders. The members of the Task Force represent the entire value chain of Indian solar industry including manufacturers, project developers, systems integrators, EPC companies, banks, private equity firms and certification bodies. The members of the FICCI Solar Energy Task Force together represent more than 80% market share of the Indian Solar Industry.

The primary aim of the Task Force is to provide a platform for the leading players from the Indian solar industry to come together and work collectively on issues of common interest and concern and contribute to the development of the solar energy industry in India and beyondglobally.
