The FICCI hydrocarbon committee endeavours to deliberate on issues related to energy security of the country and supplement various efforts of the Government of India and other bodies engaged in this area through its intellectual input.

Some of the recent initiatives by the committee are as follows:
  • Submitted inputs for the 12th Five year Plan.
  • Provided inputs for B 20 on Access to Energy and Energy Resource Options.
  • Provided inputs to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas; on the City Gas Distribution project and the National Auto Fuel policy.
Leading Conferences:
  • Asia Gas Partnership Summit: FICCI and GAIL India Ltd with the support of the International Gas Union, conceptualised the Asia Gas Partnership Summit to bring together global gas leaders; to identify opportunities for increasing cooperation and interdependence; and to promote a sustainable market that benefits economic prosperity of the Asian region as a whole.
  • India-Africa and India-CIS Hydrocarbons Conference: The objective of the conference was to foster bilateral trade relations in the hydrocarbon sector; understand policy and regulatory frameworks and offer opportunities for investment in the upstream and downstream sector of the two regions.
  • Special Track on Fuel Retailing - organised on the sidelines of PETROTECH (International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition): The objective of the Special Track on Fuel Retailing was to provide a forum to oil companies, buyers & merchandisers for meaningful deliberation on issues, challenges and opportunities in the Indian fuel retail business.
