FICCI is organizing an International Symposium on "Unlocking Reformulations & Unravelling the Science of Sweeteners” on the 28th and 29th of November 2023 at the FICCI, Delhi. There is an imperative need for reformulating food products in India to promote healthier dietary choices. This symposium will delve into the role sweeteners play in this context, highlight recent developments, and emphasize the importance of evidence-based decision-making. With an increasing demand for healthier food, there is a need for food reformulations, with a specific focus on sugar reduction and sweetness enhancement. There is also a need to explore the principles and practices of science-based labelling of sweeteners from both global and Indian perspectives, emphasizing transparency and informed consumer choices. The symposium will also focus on the pragmatic development of policies concerning sweeteners, aiming to facilitate effective product reformulation strategies tailored to India's unique requirements.
