Overview
The FICCI Forum of Parliamentarians (FOP) is a unique Track II diplomacy initiative of FICCI, fostering bipartisan political outreach and engagement across party affiliations in both Houses of the Indian Parliament. Since its inception in 2000, FOP has built strong relationships with key international stakeholders, including the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Germany, China, Japan, Singapore, and Israel. Our engagements complement official diplomatic efforts and facilitate dialogue on political, economic, and cultural partnerships between India and the world.
At the same time, FOP adds value and a fresh perspective through an independent agenda as a Track II bipartisan initiative. Regular interactions are held with Ambassadors and High Commissioners, bringing together Indian MPs across party lines to discuss India's bilateral relations. These engagements provide a vital platform for fostering diplomatic dialogue, strengthening international partnerships, and promoting mutual understanding.
In 2018, FICCI FOP launched the 'Dialogue with States' initiative to enhance subnational engagement and strengthen cooperation between Indian states and Japan. These dialogues focus on economic cooperation, startup ecosystem development, capacity building, art and culture, tourism, and people-to-people ties. The initiative is co-branded and supported by the public outreach or political section of a diplomatic mission, with FICCI curating the program in alignment with bilateral priorities.
Previous State Dialogues have been held in partnership with the Embassy of Japan in Bihar, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Karnataka (virtual), Sikkim, and most recently, Uttar Pradesh. The next State Dialogue is planned for Andhra Pradesh.
A high-level engagement between the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the Ambassador of Japan, alongside key stakeholders, including senior dignitaries from the Government of India and industry leaders from India and Japan.
The State Dialogue in Andhra Pradesh will be a two-day program scheduled for 25th – 26th March 2025.
