Overview
FICCI is hosting a webinar on "Reciprocity in Trade: Decoding the US Tariff Playbook". On 2nd April 2025, the US President issued an Executive Order on Reciprocal Tariffs imposing additional ad-valorem duties ranging from 10% to 50% on imports from all trading partners. The move aims to address perceived trade imbalances and boost domestic manufacturing in the U.S. However, it has added a new layer of uncertainty to an already intricate global trade landscape. As part of this directive, Indian exports to the U.S. will attract an additional tariff of 26%, effective April 9, 2025. This development is expected to have far-reaching implications across multiple sectors.
The session will feature insights from Mr Parthsarthi Jha, Co-chairman of the FICCI Foreign Trade Committee & Partner, Economic Laws Practice and Mr Sanjay Notani, Partner, Economic Laws Practice. The experts will discuss on:
• Background to the Reciprocal Tariffs
• Product coverage and the exclusions
• Implementation of Reciprocal Tariffs
• Possible next steps for Indian industry to mitigate the adverse impact of high tariffs
