Overview

The FICCI Urban Innovation Awards & Summit 2025 is a leading platform dedicated to promoting smart, sustainable, and resilient urban development in India. Bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, urban planners, and innovators, the summit focuses on practical solutions for future-ready cities. A key highlight is the Urban Innovation Awards, which recognize excellence across diverse areas including smart infrastructure, sustainable cities, affordable housing, green buildings, smart water and waste management, smart mobility, urban health, cybersecurity, data privacy, city safety, disaster management, emergency response, and disruptive urban solutions. The event fosters collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the celebration of impactful initiatives shaping India’s urban future.

The summit aims to explore innovations in urban planning and design, smart solutions for connected and resilient cities, and emerging financing models, including public-private partnerships, to drive sustainable urban development. It also intends to serve as a common platform for convergence of key stakeholders for brainstorming and exchange of ideas.

As cities around the world confront the challenges of rapid urbanization, the Urban Innovations Awards 2025 seek to showcase groundbreaking ideas that promote sustainable and inclusive urban living. By recognizing individuals, startups, institutions, and governments, the awards foster collaboration and dialogue to inspire meaningful change in urban development.


Category I: Smart Public Spaces

(Public open spaces, Smart parks, Area/riverfront/building rejuvenation or beautification, Open-air theatres, Place-making activities and façade improvement, Vertical gardens and wall arts, Smart traffic lights, EV charging stations, Interactive kiosk)

Category II: Urban Local Bodies

Outstanding contribution in urban planning, municipal services, revenue augmentation, development of public spaces, adoption of smart technology, service level benchmarks and transparency, green planning, citizen redressal system etc

Category III: Sustainable Cities

(Urban centres engineered to ensure environmental protection, resilience and circlar economy through innovative urban planning, Parks and green spaces, Solar-powered buildings, Rooftop gardens, Eco friendly transit options with prioritization of pedestrians and cyclists, implementation of green infrastructure with enhanced environmental targets integrating green and sustainable mobility , urban planning , economic planning, green and renewable energy etc, Developing green neighbourhoods;, Intelligent/energy-efficient pumps, lighting, Urban farming, Improving water conservation and wastewater management, Reduction of carbon emission)

Category IV: Green Buildings

(Sustainable or eco-friendly buildings designed to minimize environmental impact and maximize efficiency and well-being of its residents and visitors, Efficient use of energy & water, Energy and atmosphere, Use of locally available sustainable materials and resources, Indoor environmental quality, Design innovation, Use of traditional knowledge for increasing efficiency, water conservation, sustainable design)

Category V: Affordable Urban Housing

(Projects with atleast 250 DUs, wherein dwelling units can be a mix of EWS/LIG/MIG; Projects which are undertaken on land owned by the Central Government/States/UTs/ULB/Parastatals and executed by State, ULB, Parastatals; Projects which are undertaken in PPP mode where the States/UTs/ULBs/Parastatals provide land and/or other facilities/incentives and private sector conceive and execute the project using its financial and technical resources; Projects which are implemented by any of the following agencies in partnership with States/UTs/ULBs: ● Parastatals including all Development Authorities ● Housing Boards ● Improvement trusts ● Private agency/developer)

Category VI: Smart Water

(Smart centralised water network control/optimisation; Efficiency, leakage/pilferage prevention; Quality control; Smart Metering/revenue water; Smart meters; Water network modelling, Reuse)

Category VII: Smart Mobility
(Innovations in city mobility; Public bike sharing; Pedestrian vending zones; EV-based public transport infrastructure; private EV facilitation /incentivisation; City mobility app, integrated transport system)

Category VIII: Smart Solid Waste Management

(100% collection of waste; Community participation; Improving operational sustainability; Smart dustbins; vehicle tracking system; Innovation aggregation model; Waste to energy)

Category IX: Smart Health

(Smart Health response systems; Innovative health solutions for accessibility/delivery; Health service system that uses technology such as wearable devices, IoT, and mobile internet to dynamically access information, connect people, materials and institutions related to healthcare; Actively manages and responds to medical ecosystem needs in an intelligent manner)

Category X: Disruptive Solutions

(Drone-based solutions, Emerging technologies like RPA, AI, ML and block chain delivery mass impact; Innovative data platforms, Data-driven innovative services/marketplace, IoT; Autonomous Things (AuT) or Internet of Autonomous Things (IoAT); Advanced Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) & Extended Reality (ER); Advanced Analytics)

Category XI: City Safety, Disaster Management, Emergency Response, Cyber Security/Data Privacy

(Monitoring, response, management, prevention of situations, including accidents, pandemic, man-made/natural disasters); Edge/Network/Data centre/ccc – IT/OT)


Nomination Fees: INR 15,000 + 18% GST per nomination, per category

Last date to apply: 31st May 2025

1. Organizations can submit multiple projects across multiple categories.
2. Each project will be considered a separate nomination
3. For submitting multiple entries in the same category, please fill out the nomination form separately for each project.
