Bhashantara is FICCI's flagship initiative dedicated to promoting a multilingual internet and language technologies, further fostering the principles of Universal Acceptance (UA) and Email Address Internationalisation (EAI) in India's digital ecosystem. Anchored in the belief that language should not be a barrier to digital access, Bhashantara aims to build an inclusive internet where all users, regardless of their native language or script, can participate fully and equitably.
Focusing on alignment with the Government of India's vision of Viksit Bharat, Bhashantara serves as a collaborative platform for policymakers, technology companies, academic institutions, to deliberate on strategies that strengthen India's linguistic diversity in cyberspace. Bhashantara convenes thought leaders to address critical themes such as multilingual search, voice technologies, AI-driven translation, digital content creation, localisation tools, and regulatory frameworks supporting linguistic inclusion. The programme also actively supports the global Universal Acceptance movement led by ICANN, aiming to ensure that domain names and email addresses in local languages are technically accepted across all online systems.
