Karnataka Police get national recognition for emergency response on highways

Karnataka Police have been awarded by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for its initiative of effective highway patrolling system' under smart policing-2018.'
DGP IGP Neelamani N Raju received the award along with ADGP MA Saleem from Union minister Viiay Goel.
The state police said, "Karnataka has a good road network. There are 14 national highways and 114 state highways with total length of 28,311km. In the event of an accident effort to save the person should be the top priority not only of the medical professional but even of the police or any other citizen who happens to be connected with that matter or who happens to notice such an incident or a situation.
In Karnataka, effective monitoring and quick response by team of specialised police personnel, who are manning highway patrolling vehicle, have shown their effective work by immediately reaching the accident spots and rescued many victims. About 133 highly sophisticated and well equipped highway patrol vehicles with sufficient staff manning them are effectively operating across the state and making every effort to save the lives of the accident victims. The quick reaction by these patrolling vehicles has been widely appreciated by the general public.
The significance attached to the patrolling vehicles is due to their effective action in time has contributed in sharp declining trend of total number of fatalities.
