Naveen Patnaik inaugurates second Make in Odisha conclave

The Times of India , Nov 11, 2018

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday set the ball rolling at the Make in Odisha conclave, state’s flagship biennial investors’ meet, here in presence of his cabinet colleagues, diplomats and investors from across the globe.

The chief minister welcomed over 800 investors from India and abroad to discover the enormous business and growth opportunities in Odisha and to join the transformation process for a ‘new Odisha’.

“Odisha, the land acknowledged for its exquisite art and craft, is now contributing to the growth of the nation through its skilled workforce, who are trained in various trades and have been excelling in various industries in Odisha and beyond,” Naveen said.

As the conclave celebrates success stories of Odia people in business and innovation through the ‘I am Odisha’ campaign, Naveen dedicated the expo at the conclave, one of the major attractions at the biz meet showcasing state’s manufacturing prowess.

“These sons and daughters of our state are the force behind the rise of Odisha as an industrial powerhouse,” he added.

The chief minister also took the opportunities to present the growth story of Odisha under his leadership since around past two decades in the sectors like disaster management, food security, lifting maximum people above poverty and urban development.

“Who thought that Odisha will top the Smart City Challenge in the country? Who thought Odisha will set global standards in disaster management? Who thought Odisha will play a major role in our country’s food security? Who thought Odisha will be noticed for lifting the maximum number of people above poverty?” he added.

Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan to India, diplomats and delegates from various national and international organizations attended the inaugural ceremony.

Naveen, before inaugural of the event, also addressed the national executive meeting of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), industry partner for the biz meet.

“Odisha is emerging as a manufacturing hub of the East and we are incessantly working towards developing it as a global hub for industries in certain focus sectors,” he said at the meet.

Highlighting industrial reforms undertaken by his government to expedite industrialization, Naveen said the average time taken for project approvals in the state has reduced to an average 20 days. He also spoke on state’s efforts in enhancing skills of its youths through ‘Skilled in Odisha’ programme.

The geodesic dome named as Odisha theme pavilion at the venue that projected Odisha’s industrial growth and tourism destinations like Jagannath Temple, Konark Sun Temple and Chilka captivated the audience.

The inaugural ceremony was also followed by a scintillating cultural extravaganza showcasing state’s rich culture and heritage by around 200 artists. The performance choreographed by eminent Odissi Guru Aruna Mohanty along with Janardhan Raj Urs and Md Saiful Haque.
