Mayfair hikes tourism invest

Souvagya Mohapatra, Executive Director Mayfair Group of Hotels has said with State Government extending all out support, there is a move to set up largest Convention Centre in the Capital City of Odisha by the Hospitality Major and hiking investment in Tourism Sector.

While addressing the Odisha Tourism Roadshow here in FICCI Auditorium on 15 July, Mr. Mohapatra announced that Mayfair Group will also be setting up a major Golf Resort at Chilika Lake - Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon.

Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Minister Tourism & Culture, Vishal Dev, Secretary Tourism and Sports, FICCI Jyotsna Suri , Chairperson FICCI Tourism Committee, JK Mohanty, Chief of HRAO graced the occasion.

Mayfair Group under the leadership of Hospitality Czar, Dilip Ray – CMD Mayfair Group of Hotels, it will be able to offer best of the products to the tourists in Group’s 11 properties, six of our properties are located in Odisha.

Mayfair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar is a five star deluxe resort which is recognized as one of the best in India. With the help of Government of Odisha, Mayfair committed to invest more in Odisha and take the state to the world map. We have a plan.

Mr.Mohapatra admitted that Government of Odisha is already helping us to set up these two mega projects.

He said while there is talk about the tourism products of Odisha for a very long time but opportunity like this to expose our products to the right segment of people never came.

Mr.Mohapatra said Odisha has lot of advantages as far as tourism products are concerned, we need to shift our focus only from Bhubaneswar – Puri – Konark and focus on diversified tourism products of Odisha.

As rightly stated - “ODISHA – India’s Best Kept Secret”, state of Odisha is blessed with varied tourism products under one roof such as long coastline, forests, lakes, rich cultural heritage, architectural monuments, and tribal habitats.

There are many niche segments like Buddhists monasteries & caves that make the state an attractive destination for tourists. We have been conducting Buddhist conclave which regularly seeking the attention of the tourist from all across the world.

Recently with the introduction of Sports infrastructure such as world class– Kalinga Stadium, the state is able to attract world events such as Asian Athletics championship, World Cup Hockey, Commonwealth TT championship etc. There are many more world sports events lined up in future.

With the locational advantage, best air and rail connectivity with the entire country, the state has become a very good MICE and Wedding destination. Golden triangle Bhubaneswar – Puri – Konark forms an added attraction for MICE and Wedding tourism.

He also thanked Odisha Government for a very good Tourism Policy, which emphasizes on establishment of projects on PPP mode and provisions many new incentives which are really beneficial for Tourism Industry in the state.

The new Policy of Odisha Government focuses on strengthening human resource development activities which is making available trained manpower for hospitality and travel industry, said he.
