New Education Policy to have lesser regulation, tighter control - Dr K Kasturirangan, Chairperson, NEP 2019 Drafting Committee
NEW DELHI, 28 November 2019: Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji today asserted the need to have a human touch and personal guide in the current education system.
Speaking at a 'Fireside Chat' with Mr T V Mohandas Pai, during the 15th FICCI Higher Education Summit, Gurudev said, "Even today, personal guide is essential in education. You need a human touch in the process of learning which not only brings information to students but also builds up their personalities."
On the role of educators, Gurudev added that in the mass education process we need human value without which we will not be developed. He said, "The youth is full of energy and if you don�t keep them in the right direction it will become self-destructive."
"Creating a sense of belongingness and sense of responsibility with young people we can dream of giving a better future for the coming generation," said Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji.
Later during the day at the valedictory session, Dr K Kasturirangan, Chairperson, Drafting Committee of the NEP 2019, said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2019 is not in the context of the regulatory mechanism to control the education. It is lesser regulation but tighter control.
Dr Kasturirangan laid down the key elements of the draft NEP 2019. "We are trying to bring several aspects of liberal education into the existing education system," he said.
"A robust ecosystem of research is relevant today even in the contexts of climate change, population dynamics, biotech, expanding digital marketplace and the rise of machine learning and AI," add Dr Kasturirangan.

Mr T V Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Manipal Global Education highlighted that the policy that we are going to have now and how we are going to implement that should meet the needs of the 3rd decade of the 21st century. "This decade will be a transformational decade for the world," he said.
Dr Vidya Yeravdekar, Chair, FICCI HE Committee and Pro-Chancellor, Symbiosis International University said that a lot of the advocacy done by FICCI has been taken cognizance of by the government.
Prof Rupamanjari Ghosh, Co-chair, FICCI HE Committee and Vice Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University said that creative economy is one of the dynamic sectors of the world economy with a powerful transformative force for socio economic development and provides interface between economy, culture, technology and society.
