Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was established in 1991. The Russian Federation, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan are the members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The CIS countries were estimated to represent over four percent of the global economy in 2024.
Relations between India and countries of the CIS Region have remained close and cordial. The total trade with the Commonwealth of Indepedent States (CIS) region for the fiscal year 2022-2023 amounted to US $41,122.01 million.
Since March 2020, India has been negotiating a trade agreement with members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), while also exploring the potential for a Preferential Trade Agreement with Uzbekistan, as indicated by a Joint Feasibility Study signed in 2019, with the submitted report awaiting examination.
