FICCI constitutes Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion (D&I)

NEW DELHI, 19 December 2019: FICCI has set up a 'Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion (D&I)which will work towards enabling D&I focused work policies across India Inc. to ensure Indian corporates have inclusive organizational policies in their companies with enough gender diversity, inclusion of people with disabilities as well as representation from the LGBTQI+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex) community.

With representation of senior industry leaders and CHROs/ D&I experts from private sector, NGOs and other policy influencers, the 20 member Task Force is being mentored by Dr Jyotsna Suri, Past President, FICCI and Chairperson and Managing Director, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, Ms Radhika Piramal, Executive Director & Vice Chairperson, VIP Industries and Mr Keshav Suri, Executive Director, Bharat Hotels Ltd. & Founder, Keshav Suri Foundation as Co-chairs.

Speaking at the 'First Meeting of Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion', Dr Jyotsna Suri, Past President, FICCI and Chairperson and Managing Director, The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group said, "I congratulate FICCI for being a first mover as an apex industry organization to undertake this initiative which is important for India's economic development to be truly inclusive."

Ms Radhika Piramal, Executive Director and Vice Chairperson, VIP Industries said, 'This taskforce aims to increase inclusion of women, people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ community into corporate workplaces so that all can participate in India's economic growth."

Mr Keshav Suri, Executive Director, Bharat Hotels Ltd and Founder, Keshav Suri Foundation, said, "It is important to ensure that the workplaces have an acceptable environment where people respect and recognize each other's meritocracy over their sexual orientation, disability or gender. For focused planning and action, this task force will have three sub-groups on Gender Parity, Empowering Persons with Disability and LGBTQ under the overarching ambit of D&I."

Being the voice of the Indian Industry, FICCI has been instrumental in bringing about many policy changes through several active sectoral committees. The FICCI Task force on D&I will steer necessary discussions with Government, Corporates, NGOs, academia and  other D&I experts on how it can get more diverse, inclusive and better for all to bring about effective policy changes in this area as well as build and showcase best D&I practices.
