India following Netaji's footsteps towards becoming self-reliant: Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways

NEW DELHI, 21 October 2021: Mr Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Government of India yesterday said that Netaji is the greatest source of inspiration for the dream of Atmanirbhar Bharat and citizens are indebted to Netaji for he was a man with stout intentions.

Addressing the session on Azad Hind Haqoomat Day #Netaji125 organized by FICCI, Mr Gadkari said Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is immortal and his legacy of courage, patriotism and selfless service to the nation will survive till eternity and continue to inspire future generations. Bestowing his respect to the freedom fighters of the Indian National Army (INA), Gadkari said that these freedom fighters worked diligently with Netaji to bring back the lost glory of the country. The Minister for Road Transport & Highways urged the youth of the country to read about the life of Bose and his struggles. "The young generation that knows the history of the freedom movement can build a strong nation," he said.

The Minister said that we are celebrating Azadi ka AmritMahotsav across the country and through the celebrations, we want to instil the feeling of patriotism among the youth and based on this they should participate in building a new and great India and fulfil the dream of Netaji. "India should get its appropriate place by becoming the global leader, our younger generation should move forward in that direction," said Mr Gadkari.

"We are a rich nation with a poor population, to replace this into a rich nation with a rich population, we need knowledge as a power with Atmanirbharta in the defence sector," said the Minister. To create the dream India of Netaji, he said, there is a need to become Atmanirbhar in Defence Manufacturing.  He mentioned that we aim to enhance defence production and develop new technology. Yoga and Ayurveda, he said is India's 'gift' to the world. Yoga and Ayurveda are not just the foundations of the global well-being innovation but also seen as reliable methods globally, said the minister.

He further mentioned that India holds the world record for swiftest road construction. The leap of highways construction in the country has touched a record 38 km per day. We also built 1-lane 25-km bitumen Solapur-Bijapur Road within 22 hours and created a world record for laying a maximum of 2.6 km four-lane concrete road at one project site in a day, on the Delhi-Mumbai expressway, stated the Minister.

Speaking on Government's decision on Military Schools Mr Gadkari said, military school environment provides students with the structure they need at sensitive ages to succeed. They develop qualities like high moral character, honesty, integrity, discipline, and honour. The Govt aims to open new capacities to meet the growing ambitions of children eager of receiving education in a Sainik School environment.

Dr Bindu Gayatri Dalmia, Ex Chairperson and Patron INA Trust said Netaji has put forward a blueprint for the future of free India as President of the INC in 1938. Netaji's roadmap comprised of a rich legacy of ideas, ideals, and dreams of free India and how the post-colonial nation should shape up socially economically and in delivering governance.

Brig RS Chhikara, Chairman, Netaji Subhash Bose � INA Trust said the INA trust has been focussing on the vision and philosophy of Netaji Subhash and the vision Netaji is more important than the history of Netaji.

Dr A Surya Prakash, Chairman Advisory Board, Netaji Subhash Bose � INA Trust said, Netaji is a youth icon and a champion of gender equality in the country for the present and generations to come. We look forward to the decisions of the Prime Minister and seeing Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose his rightful place in the heart of the city of the capital of India.

Mr Sudheer Singh, General Secretary INA Trust said Netaji is an example of courage and he is the biggest inspiration for a self-reliant India.

Mr Dilip Chenoy, Secretary-General, FICCI said that FICCI is privileged to partner with the INA trust to perpetuate the memory of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The Govt of India is celebrating important dates associated with Netaji and INA at significant places and FICCI has the privilege to support the celebration of important dates and continue to do so in the future including celebrating the 125th birth Anniversary at the India Pavilion in Dubai, he added.
