Minister highlights partnership and investment opportunities in India

Washington DC/New Delhi, 12 April 2023: FICCI President Mr Subhrakant Panda welcomed Finance Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman at a business roundtable with US investors and businesses in Washington DC, co-hosted by USISPF. Finance Minister highlighted the partnership and investment opportunities in India, especially in digitization, infrastructure, environment & climate change, Artificial Intelligence, electric mobility and GIFT city.

In his opening remarks, Mr Panda emphasised the role of Indian government in creating an enabling environment for the growth of businesses. "India offers a unique opportunity for global investors today, not merely due to higher growth but also owing to the size of the economy, demographics and a stable & supportive policy environment," he said.  

FICCI President also highlighted the transformational policy reforms seen by the country across the industrial landscape, governance structures, delivery of social services, and all other economic and developmental areas. On prospects for the next decade, he listed out the factors that will play a key role in shaping India's future, including the government's continued efforts towards improving ease of doing business, building foundations for competitive manufacturing through lower tax rates and schemes like Production Linked Incentive (PLI), laying a thrust on the digital economy, and creating a robust eco-system around infrastructure and logistics. He also emphasised on India's rising influence in the global arena and its contribution towards global action in areas like climate change, disaster risk management, digital financial inclusion, women empowerment, frontier technologies, and vaccine successes.

During the round table, Finance Minister underlined the global acknowledgment of New India and its renewed role in the global economic order for the next 25 years. She also elaborated on structural reforms undertaken by the government to achieve the vision of New India.
