Viksit Bharat can only be achieved through women-led development: Bhupender Yadav

Mr Bhupender Yadav, Minister of Labour & Employment; Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Govt of India today said that there is a need for more focus on gender equality along with gender equity. “We can achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat only through women-led development,” he added.
Addressing the FICCI’s national conclave ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’, Mr Yadav emphasized that to get women-led development there is a need to focus on the 3’s – Support, Sensitivity and Systemic change. We are moving from a rural based economy to an urban based economy and there is a lot of mobility and migration, he stated.
The Minister stated that the women-led development should make the women logical, expressive, rational and we need to support them in this. “Gender equality is achieved through equal outcomes for women and men; removing barriers and ensuring ownership are the foundations of women-led development,” he said.
Ms Asha Kharga, Chair, FICCI Women Empowerment Committee & Member of Group Executive Board and Chief Customer & Brand Officer, Mahindra Group said that the progress of a society is dependent on the progress of women. She added that the efforts of the government are showing result that the female labour participation rate has doubled to 37 per cent in 2023 which was 19 per cent in 2020.
Ms Sudha Shivkumar, President, FICCI FLO while speaking on the challenges related to women entrepreneurship said that funding is one of the major reasons for start-ups along with a mental barrier for women taking an entrepreneurial role. Women entrepreneurs need access to mentors for handholding, she added.
Ms Shivani Malik, Director, Da Milano highlighted on the need for women to have more financial dependence along with a change in the mindset for a woman to become an entrepreneur.
Ms Shaifalika Panda, Trustee and Founder CEO, Bansidhar and Ila Panda Foundation stated that women in the rural areas face greater challenges and lack of opportunities as compared to women in urban area.
Ms Meha Patel, Vice Chairperson, Zydus Foundation said that the role of women is highlighted as India is developing with more avenues coming in sectors like healthcare, fintech, IT sector.
Mr Mahendra Singhi – Strategic Advisor and Member of the Board of Directors, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd said that there are various government schemes which are supporting women entrepreneurs. It is now time for women entrepreneurs to come forward and become the part of developed India, he added.
