Personalized learning without language barrier and accessibility to all is needed: Dr Buddha Chandrashekhar, COO, AICTE

 

NEW DELHI, 20 July 2024: FICCI yesterday organized its ‘1st Edtech Conclave’ under the theme of building a more equitable and inclusive education and skilling ecosystem. The conclave united key stakeholders from the Ministry, Regulatory Bodies, Academicians, and industry leaders to shape the future of education in the digital age.

 

Mr Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC & MD, NSDCI emphasized the immense potential of EdTech in revolutionizing the skilling ecosystem. “India is poised to be the talent capital of the world, with a burgeoning young population,” he added. He also highlighted the need to integrate skills development seamlessly into the education system to create a future-ready workforce. He also underscored the importance of leveraging EdTech to service the growing global demand for Indian professionals in sectors like education and consulting.

 

Dr Buddha Chandrashekhar, Chief Coordinating Officer, AICTE, called for personalized learning accessible to all, irrespective of language barriers. He emphasized the role of academia in translating knowledge into practical applications. Dr Chandrashekhar advocated for a comprehensive skill survey to identify skill gaps and align education accordingly. He also stressed the importance of public-private partnerships in fostering entrepreneurship and job creation.

 

Mr Mayank Kumar, Chair, FICCI New Education Providers Sub-Committee Co-Founder & MD upGrad, highlighted India’s demographic dividend and its potential to become a global economic powerhouse. He outlined the government’s initiatives, including the SIDH platform and Skill Loan Scheme, to accelerate skilling. Kumar emphasized the emergence of Global Capability Centers in India as a significant opportunity for the EdTech sector. He also stressed the need for an egalitarian structure to ensure equitable access to quality education.

 

Mr Nitin Kukreja, Co-Chair, FICCI New Education Providers Sub-Committee & CEO, Allen, underscored the importance of quality education beyond mere access. He emphasized the role of technology in enhancing teaching and learning outcomes. Mr Kukreja highlighted the need for a holistic approach to student development, including mentorship and personalized learning. He called for a consumer-centric focus for EdTech companies, emphasizing the delivery of tangible value.
