Quality standards imperative to achieve Viksit Bharat 2047 goal
• Nationwide drive by FICCI for cleanliness by industries will be a good CSR initiative
NEW DELHI, 21 November 2024: Mr Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Govt of India today said that Viksit Bharat has to be a collaborative effort between the industry and the government. “I urge the industry to play a more proactive role in helping us in our Ease of Doing business agenda to reduce compliance burden, decriminalize any laws which are decremental to industry,” he added.
Addressing the ‘FICCI’s 97th AGM and Annual Convention’, Mr Goyal stated that the stature of India across the world is growing year on year and India is recognized as the growth engine of the world. The world looks upon India’s leadership to make the world a better place. The Global South wants India to play even more important role in the world’s future and all of this is on the back on ‘trust’. “India today has earned the trust of the world and is looked upon as a trusted partner. Indian businesses today are increasingly becoming a part of the global value chain,” he emphasized.
Speaking on the importance of quality standards, Mr Goyal stated that the government has multiple technical committees of BIS and FICCI along with associates can ensure to have industry representation in every committee to make quality standards more practical and useful. This, he added that will help India evolve as a country recognized around the world as a quality producer of goods and that will define our Viksit Bharat growth story. “Unless the world has the confidence that India can not only be a trusted partner but also a producer of quality goods and services which can impact our journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” he noted.
Mr Goyal also impressed upon the need for cleanliness drive and said that if the states become clean it will attract more and more tourists to that place. “Cleanliness very closely aligns to economic development, employment and job creation and I would urge industry to adopt building of toilets in various schools as part of the CSR initiative,” he added.
Dr Anish Shah, President, FICCI delivered the welcome remarks.
Mr Harsha Vardhan Agarwal, President- Elect said that FICCI will work closely taking forward dream of Prime Minister of Swachh Bharat. “Our focus, this year, has been on four priority areas and Make-in-India is one of them. We will continue to have this focus next year as well,” he added.
