Nov 21, 2024
NEW DELHI, 21 NOVEMBER 2024: FICCI today organized a panel discussion with top leaders in industry on the session ‘Women-led Growth’ during its 97th AGM and Annual Convention. The session emphasized the critical role of women in driving India's economic and social transformation.
Ms Asha Kharga, Chief Customer & Brand Officer and Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra Group, moderated the session and emphasized on care economy and gender equity.
Mr Alok Kshirsagar, Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company shared that the biggest challenge in gender equity is the drop-off at the first managerial level, where men are 2.4 times more likely to be promoted. Policies alone aren’t enough; accountability across leadership is crucial. Focus on skills, provide workplace support, and ensure action beyond the CEO, he added.
Ms Kavitha Dutt Chitturi, Joint Managing Director, The KCP Limited & Past President, FICCI FLO said that there is a need for standardization, certification and institutionalization to make the care ecosystem conducive.
Ms Jyoti Vij, Director General, FICCI said that care economy presents a vast opportunity. By fostering economic growth, employment, and women's transition from care work to formal employment, it makes immense economic sense. A robust care economy enables women's participation, which will significantly boost GDP, she added.
