FICCI has led an initiative of formulating Biotechnology Committee First Biotech Committee Meeting has been held on 12th April, 2011 where in several issues has been discussed. Committee is still in the process of identifying policy issues within the Sector. The issues which have which has been identified and deliberated in the first meeting are as under:
- Engage with DCGI and other concerned officials: to Map out the hurdles in the process of Product clearances
- Emphasis on Industry- Academia bridging: to gaps between Industry and Academia
- Emphasis on the funding programs: to improvisation of the Government Funding Schemes and awareness
- Revive the Industry platform: to bridge the gap by bringing together industry, academia, policy planners and all other stakeholders to define and implement an industry driven research agenda, provides industry an opportunity to contribute ideas for public funded research
Apart from the above identified issues FICCI is also focusing on three major areas in the Biotech Sector:
- Similar Biologics/Biosimilars
- Vaccines
- Stem Cells
