Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) have emerged as the most preferred institutional mechanism for farmer prosperity. FPOs have a big role to play in not only building the socio-economic resilience of farmers but also in achieving several sustainable development goals. The government’s push towards doubling Farmers’ Income, and a slew of other measures supporting FPOs, including 5-year tax breaks, in the Budget 2018 has brought FPOs in the spotlight.  Even as the numbers of FPOs have grown steadily, emerging challenges remain unaddressed.  

 

The primary objective of the FICCI Task Force on Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs ) is to analyse ground level issues faced by FPOs ,  particularly in respect to access to capital, technology and market. Task Force aims to facilitate a comprehensive forum for dialogue with the widest spectrum of stakeholders to build consensus around solutions. FICCI Task Force on FPOs is committed to work for development of FPO ecosystem in the country and offer support towards (a) policy advocacy (b) creating an interface between industry and FPOs (c) developing knowledge repository (d) enabling fruitful collaborations.
