Swasth Bharat Task Force

India has witnessed significant developments in the field of healthcare in the last six decades. But, with the population reaching 1.3 billion, India has disproportionately high 21% of the global disease burden. The Government spending on healthcare, estimated to be little over 1% of the GDP, has not kept pace with the growing population and disease burden. Changing disease patterns, shifting focus from curative to preventive care and increasing urban-rural divide in the healthcare service availability and quality are demanding transformation in the healthcare sector.

FICCI's Engagement

FICCI has taken the lead on working on ‘Swasth Bharat’, an initiative on public health. This high level Task Force set up in 2016, includes members from the government, industry and multilateral and bilateral organisations. The focus areas are:
NCD & Mental Health: The Working Group is planning a 3-phase project in collaboration with the Government on effective screening and delivering curative interventions to tackle the increasing burden of NCDs and Mental Health conditions in the country

Road Safety and Emergency care: The Working group is planning a 3-year project on Improving Trauma Care Systems in India to reduce burden of road traffic injuries by structuring and improving existing trauma care systems in the country. Also, identify the existing gaps and resources available which can lead to greater prevention and appropriate treatment of emergency care.

IISH Kosh: A multi stakeholder platform to share best practices, replicate successful models and implement sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects in healthcare. IISH (Indian Industry in Solidarity for Health) Kosh has been endorsed by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
