Event Overview & Highlights
On 7 July 2026, FICCI hosted the Industry Outreach Programme on RDIF (Research, Development and Innovation Fund) at Federation House in New Delhi. During the event, government and industry leaders underscored the critical need to elevate India’s R&D expenditure, placing the private sector at the center of this transformation. Backed by a Rs. 1 lakh crore government allocation, the RDIF acts as a catalytic force to absorb initial risks by offering collateral-free, long-term funding for up to 50% of total R&D costs over 10-15 years. Rather than supporting routine R&D, the fund strictly targets critical, cutting-edge innovations and technology acquisition in strategic sunrise sectors- including deep tech, AI, biotechnology, and clean energy transition - to ensure economic security and self-reliance. This landmark initiative signals India's readiness to transition from a technology consumer to a global creator, ensuring long-term economic competitiveness. To drive nationwide adoption and encourage companies to capitalize on this facility, FICCI will continue to curate a series of similar outreach programs across the country in collaboration with key government scientific bodies.
