For India to become 3rd largest economy by 2027, it is imperative for the country to increase the production capacity, develop infrastructure and improve our services domestically and across global supply chains. The logistics sector in India was valued at US$ 250 billion in 2021, with the market predicted to increase to an astounding US$ 380 billion by 2025, at a healthy 10%-12% year-on-year growth rate.

To create an efficient logistics ecosystem and strengthening India's presence in the global supply chain, Government has implemented several initiatives to transform the business ecosystem and attract investments. Notable efforts include the establishment of the Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGoS), Project Development Cells (PDCs) to fast-track investments, the Investment Clearance Cell (ICC) with the National Single Window System (NSWS) for streamlined facilitation, One-District One-Product (ODOP) scheme and Production-Linked Incentive (PLI).

Further, recent initiatives by government including Prime Minister Gati Shakti’s National Master Plan (NMP) and the National Logistics Policy (NLP)  have been instrumental in paving the way towards a more efficient and integrated logistic ecosystem. In addition, the government’s focus towards the development and expansion of Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) has reinforced operational efficiency, ensuring sustainable logistic practices and the pursuit towards further reduction of the overall logistics cost.

The rapid advancements in technology have opened a plethora of possibilities for the industry. Embracing automation and data-driven decision-making will be key to unlocking the true potential of the sector.
