FICCI - Gujarat State Council facilitated strategic industry interactions during the visit of Mr. Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, U.K., who led a high-level industrial delegation from the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) to Gujarat on 23rd February 2025 in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The visit aimed at strengthening India-UK economic cooperation following the landmark India-UK Free Trade Agreement.
The delegation engaged with key stakeholders across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, with discussions focused on financial services, innovation ecosystems, clean energy, education, digital technologies, and sustainable urban development. A major highlight of the visit was the delegation’s engagement at GIFT City, India’s first operational IFSC, where opportunities in fintech, sustainable finance, AI-driven financial services, and global capability centres were explored.
The delegation also participated in the Commonwealth Connect Forum hosted by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, focusing on sports-led economic development, green mobility, AI-enabled infrastructure, and skill development initiatives.
FICCI - Gujarat State Council hosted a curated networking interaction between Gujarat industry leaders and the UK delegation, fostering dialogue on technology partnerships, investment opportunities, academic collaborations, and innovation-led growth. The visit further reinforced Gujarat’s position as a preferred destination for global partnerships and investment-driven development.
