Roads & Highways

The Roads & Highways sector, previously part of the Transport Infrastructure Committee (covering Roads & Highways, Ports & Shipping, and Railways), was established as an independent Committee in 2026 as a dedicated sectoral body within FICCI’s broader Transport Infrastructure vertical. The FICCI Committee on Roads & Highways brings together senior leaders from across the sector, including industry stakeholders, policymakers, government agencies, and developers. The Committee represents a wide spectrum of domains such as project development, construction, financing, technology, and operations.

The Committee serves as a structured platform for engagement between the private sector and key government stakeholders, including the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and the National Highways Authority of India, ensuring that sector-wide concerns are articulated in a cohesive and credible manner. The Committee aims to undertakes the following core activities:

• Consolidate industry perspectives into actionable policy recommendations
• Submit inputs and recommendations on priority issues to relevant government stakeholders
• Facilitate consultations and roundtables to discuss sectoral challenges and potential solutions
• Provide feedback on policy developments and project-related issues across key areas including DPR quality, contracting practices, QCBS adoption, and project execution frameworks

• Support private sector participation by highlighting challenges related to financing, taxation, MSME provisions, and dispute resolution mechanisms, with a focus on improving overall project delivery and sectoral efficiency
