Sushma Swaraj presents ASEAN-India Youth Awards to 20 achievers

NEW DELHI, 23 January 2018: Ms. Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs, Government of India and Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathod, Minister of State (MoS), Independent Charge for Youth Affairs and Sports & MoS For information and Broadcasting, Government of India, today presented awards to young achievers from India and the ASEAN countries in various economic, business, social and sports fields.
The winners include Mr. Saurabh Kochhar of FoodPanda India, who received awards in two categories from the Indian side and Mr. Daryl Neo of DC Frontiers and Mr. Thein Soe Min of Greenovator in the most Innovative Business Idea category from the ASEAN side.*
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Swaraj said, "The cultural bonds between India and ASEAN countries were centuries old and the onus was on us to propagate this special relationship amongst the youth in both the regions. From the Government of India's side, we would like to institutionalise the relationship through a permanent mechanism so that the youth of ASEAN countries can partake of our cultural and religious ethos and become true ambassadors of India in their countries."
Col. Rathod said that the entire humanity shares the same joys, pains and pleasures in a world that is composed of one people. "If we are to sow the seeds for making the world a friendly place to live in, we must place the youth in the forefront of our agenda."
Mr Sandip Somany, Senior Vice President FICCI and Vice Chairman & MD, HSIL Ltd.,in his welcome remarks, said that Youth Awards were a part of the series of events commemorating 25 years of ASEAN-India relations. FICCI, he said, recognises the hopes and aspirations of the youth and the awards celebrate the talent of young professionals and are a testimony to their leadership, work and dedication in their respective fields.
