FICCI has constituted a Furniture committee with leading furniture manufacturers, exporters and retailers in April,2020. The committee includes companies such as Obeetee, Godrej Interio, IKEA, Hettich, HNI, Pepperfry, Manor & Mews, CL Gupta and Buying Agents Association. The committee is working with Government, industry and other stake holders with an objective to make India a self-reliant country in terms of furniture industry and a global supplier and exporter of furniture.

Furniture sector has been identified by Govt. of India as one of the focus sectors for further strengthening Indian Industry's competitive edge. India already has the ecosystem in place with several advantages like skilled labour force, availability of raw material, huge demand, presence of major global buyers and has a great potential to be among top 3 global players in furniture.

FICCI's Engagement

FICCI has constituted a Furniture committee with leading furniture manufacturers, exporters and retailers in April,2020. The committee includes Obeetee, Godrej Interio, IKEA, Hettich, HNI, Pepperfry, Manor & Mews, CL Gupta, Merino Industries, Furniture & Fittings Skill Council ( FFSC) and Buying Agents Association. The committee is working with Government, industry and other stake holders with an objective to make India a self-reliant country in terms of furniture industry and a global supplier and exporter of furniture. The target is to create $30-40 Billion furniture Industry by 2025 with 5 lakh employment opportunity.

The furniture committee is actively involved in the issues related to policy & strategy. It interacts regularly with the Government, industry and stakeholders to address the challenges and work on different issues including availability of raw material, build scale, reduce logistics cost, skill development, capacity utilization, ease of doing business. The committee is also working with Central and State Governments on identifying and setting up of furniture hubs.
