FICCI welcomes North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS)

NEW DELHI, 22 March 2018: The union cabinet's approval to the scheme for North Eastern Region viz North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS) is a welcome move.

 

"For continued growth of the Indian Economy, faster development of the North-East region is critical. The new scheme will help in building manufacturing and service sector competencies in the region," said Rashesh Shah, President, FICCI.

 

Mr. Shah added that, "While the earlier schemes, NEIP 1997, and NEIIPP 2017, provided the much-needed initial impetus for investments in the region, the new scheme, with a considerably larger outlay can give a major fillip to employment generation and economic development".

 

Further, the provision for dovetailing of the benefits under NEIDS with other existing schemes will also help industry, particularly the MSME units, he said
