Small industries must get in-hand training on Industrial security: UP Governor Ram Naik

FICCI organises a 3-days seminar on 'Industrial Safety and Emergency Preparedness'
LUCKNOW, 19 June 2018: Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Ram Naik today said that small industries must get in-hand training on Industrial security.
He was speaking at the 3-day seminar on "Industrial Safety and Emergency Preparedness" jointly organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Government of Uttar Pradesh, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), Natural Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Chemical & Industrial Disaster Management (CIDM) Board in Lucknow.
"Uttar Pradesh is one of the largest state in India. I thank FICCI for organizing such programs in UP and focusing on the matter of industrial security. It is said that prevention is better than cure and this is the reason why this conference is important as it will prove to be beneficial for the awareness of industrial safety among people," said Mr. Naik.
Industrial Development Minister, Govt. of UP, Mr. Satish Mahana said, "Before setting up an industry, it is more important that how we plan, make policies and create funds for disaster management. In the Industrial plan, how industrial safety training will be given under PPP. The government can give directions but society has to work on it. People lose everything within seconds due to lack of proper training, so it is necessary that workers are made aware of industrial security and emergency preparedness."
Commissioner, Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department, Dr. Anup Chandra Pandey said, "for every industrial safety four pillars are very important, firstly the legal framework, protocols, resources and the most important thing is to have participation of people. Following safety measures are important and everyone should follow it."
Chief Secretary, Govt. of UP, Mr. Rajive Kumar said, "Industry security is an important issue on which we must take a stand because we are also a part of it. We need to provide training to the small industries along with large industries."
Mr. OP Singh, IPS, Director General, UP Police said that safety talks are important. Focus areas should be standards, procedures and protocols. India has more than 300 districts that has MAH. When we think of MAH within India, it requires a robust system for ensuring safety. Once we are done with ensuring the safety then Industrial Preparedness is important.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Relief Commissioner, Govt. of UP in his presentation emphasised on the importance of building capacities among the industries in ensuring highest level of safety. He called for FICCI as the apex chamber of commerce of India to be the nodal agency in propagating safety standards in partnership with relevant government departments.
