FICCI deeply saddened at the death of its former Secretary General Mr D H Pai Panandiker

NEW DELHI, November 19, 2018: FICCI is deeply saddened at the death of its former Secretary General Mr D H Pai Panandiker (1981-91) today. Mr Panandiker, one of the most respected economists of the country, was associated with FICCI for over three decades. He joined FICCI as an economist and took over as Secretary General in 1981. After retiring from FICCI in 1991, he joined the RPG Foundation.
Mr Panandiker, as an economist, was a regular contributor to the Hindustan Times centre page and many other publications. During his leadership of FICCI, a number of new initiatives were taken up. Under the leadership of Mr R P Goenka, the then President of FICCI, he brought the ICC World Congress to India. He guided a number of initiatives like CIFTI, Chamber Executives' Foundation and Food Research Analysis Centre (FRAC).
For many in FICCI he was a mentor and guide. He contributed to the conceptualisation of economic reforms also in a big way. He is survived by a son and a daughter.
