FICCI grieves the sad demise of Ms Sushma Swaraj

NEW DELHI, 07 August 2019: FICCI grieves the sad demise of former external affairs minister and a towering leader in Indian politics, Ms Sushma Swaraj.

"India has lost a great parliamentarian, people's minister, and exemplary leader. Our condolences. FICCI and Indian Industry saddened by the passing away of a friend and supporter of industry," said Mr Sandip Somany, President, FICCI.

Sushma ji devoted her whole life to public service and scripted a glorious chapter in Indian politics. She was a remarkable leader who earned respect across the board and was a source of inspiration not only for her own party colleagues, but also for others.

A prolific orator and an outstanding Parliamentarian, Ms Swaraj was admired and revered across party lines and succeeded in setting her own standards in the working of the ministries that she handled with her excellent administrative skills.

As India's external affairs minister, she played a key role in raising the country's stature in the international political arena. Ms Swaraj will specially be remembered for her compassionate handling of fellow Indians who were in need in any part of the world during her tenure.
