Arun ji's demise is a great loss for India. The country has lost a proud son; a patriot; a nationalist and someone who was a firm believer in the tremendous economic potential our country had to offer: Sandip Somany, President, FICCI
NEW DELHI, 24 August 2019: "The news of the tragic demise of Mr Arun Jaitley ji is a great shock and setback for all of us at FICCI. The passing away of Arun ji has created a deep void, which can never be filled, and the business and entrepreneurial community of India will always miss him. As a key architect of major economic reforms, which the country has seen over the last few years, Arun ji had considerably strengthened the foundation for India's sustained growth over the medium to long term. His commitment to inclusive growth and development was reflected in a series of measures that were taken by the NDA government in its previous term during which Arun ji had left an indelible mark on economic policy making for the country," said Mr Sandip Somany, President, FICCI.
"Arun ji had great confidence and high regard for the entrepreneurs of India and would continuously seek feedback from FICCI on how the government could further improve the business environment and make Indian industry more competitive. He believed that the public and private sector must work together to help create a growth trajectory where the benefits of development reach all corners of the country. His philosophy was that in a developing society it is extremely important to blend reforms with last mile benefits added to it as only then will reforms become politically palatable," added Mr Somany.
"We were fortunate to have travelled alongside Mr Arun Jaitley ji to different parts of the world to share perspectives on the growth agenda of the government and to talk about the many investment opportunities in India. The passion with which Arun ji addressed the investor community in many of these programs FICCI organised clearly reflected his deep desire to take India and our economy to a pedestal where we could be counted as a developed and a happy society where ease of living could be felt by people from all walks of life," said Mr Somany.
"Arun ji's demise is a great loss for India. The country has lost a proud son; a patriot; a nationalist and someone who was a firm believer in the tremendous economic potential our country had to offer. FICCI pays its deepest respects to the departed soul and we pray to God to give his family the strength to see through this difficult phase," said Mr Somany.
