Andhra Pradesh government sets up Blue Economy Cell: Principal Secretary, Andhra Pradesh Industries and Infrastructure

AMARAVATI, 12 September 2019: Dr Rajat Bhargava, Principal Secretary, Industries, Infrastructure and Investment and Commerce Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh yesterday said that the state government has set up a Blue Economy Cell to take advantage of the state�s potential in the sector.

 

Speaking at 'Stakeholder Consultation on Blue Economy', organized by FICCI, jointly with Government of Andhra Pradesh and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Dr Bhargava said that he supported the cause and objective of the meeting as he highlighted the importance of such consultations.

 

He further added that the Department of Industries, Infrastructure and Investment and Commerce has set up Blue Economy Cell and the nodal officer is Siddharth Jain, Commissioner, Industries and Commerce Department, and Director of Ports, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The consultation highlighted the economic potential of Blue Economy for Andhra Pradesh.

 

Ambassador Anup Mudgal, Co-Chair FICCI Taskforce on Blue Economy, reiterated the importance of Blue Economy for both India and Andhra Pradesh and said that there are vast opportunities available for stakeholders in this sector which will promote overall growth of the state.

 

Ms Bhavna Saxena, Special Commissioner, AP Bhavan New Delhi, Government of Andhra Pradesh emphasized on the importance of promoting public-private partnership in order to further the cause of Blue Economy in Andhra Pradesh.

 

Ms Romina Liesel Elbracht, Project Officer, KAS, highlighted the achievements of KAS in promoting initiatives like Blue Economy and bridging the gap in India's Blue Economy model.

 

The outcome of the event will be incorporated in forthcoming business conference on Blue Economy Partnerships in Andhra Pradesh along with FICCI�s policy paper on Blue Economy, which is a thought leadership project in partnership with KAS.

 

The consultation was attended by key decision makers from Blue Economy sectors such as fisheries, shipbuilding, marine construction, port sector, MPEDA and various other Blue Economy sectors and industries of Andhra Pradesh.
