It is a great loss to FICCI: Sandip Somany, President, FICCI

NEW DELHI, 3 November 2019: Expressing profound grief over the sad demise of Mr K K Modi, FICCI President, Mr Sandip Somany said, "We condole the untimely death of Mr K K Modi, Chairman, Modi Enterprises and Past President of FICCI in 1997. He has left a void not only in the Indian industry, but also as a mentor to FICCI."

"His leadership and business acumen took Modi Enterprises to a US$ 3 billion entity and epitomizes success story of family run businesses in India. His sharp sense of observation and open-mindedness heralded Modi Enterprises' diversification into non-tobacco businesses like retail, cosmetics, allowing his children to explore new vistas. He charted a similar roadmap for growth of FICCI during his Presidency, and it was his continued guidance which has helped to make FICCI what it is today," added Mr Somany.

Mr Modi, as President of FICCI, called for a national partnership between the Government, Financial Institutions, Labour and Businessmen. This "Force of Four", as Mr Modi saw it, "should empower Indian producers and service providers to penetrate the world markets not only on the basis of price but also on quality and ingenuity."

"Mr Modi was also the President of Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI), from 2002-06, an initiative led by FICCI in India.

"His death would remain a great loss to FICCI and personally I would be bereft of his guidance and vision," said Mr Somany.
