NEW DELHI, 29 January 2021: Commenting on the address by Mr Ram Nath Kovind, Hon'ble President of India at the Joint Session of the Parliament earlier today, Mr Uday Shankar, President, FICCI said, "The progress that we have seen under the various social and economic programs of the government is indeed commendable. The approach of the government towards promoting country's development is both comprehensive and inclusive. The Hon'ble President of India highlighted the key milestones India has crossed in its development journey and how at the start of the new decade we are strongly placed to move ahead and strengthen our position further amongst the comity of nations."
"The multitude of reforms and other measures that were undertaken by the government since the time COVID crisis struck helped India to not only ward of the immediate challenges with limited impact but also prepare us for the new opportunities that were coming on the horizon. The clarion call given by the Prime Minister to make India 'Atmanirbhar' is reflected in the spate of policies announced by various ministries and encompass agriculture, manufacturing, and services sectors. A strong and Atmanirbhar Bharat can contribute to global growth and development and the supply of Made in India COVID-19 vaccines to several countries is a perfect example of this," added Mr Shankar.
"With its clear emphasis on supporting the development of women, economically and socially weaker sections of society, rural populace, people with special needs, farmers, small businesses and traders, the Government is playing an enabling role to ensure that all sections of society and all parts of the country contribute to India's growth as well as benefit from the fruits of development. FICCI is committed to work alongside our Government and contribute with all its might towards building a New India," said Mr Shankar.
