FICCI mourns the demise of Mr D N Patodia, Past President, FICCI

NEW DELHI, 24 January 2022: The senior most Past President of FICCI, Mr D N Patodia passed away yesterday after a brief illness. With his demise, FICCI has lost one of the great orators, renowned economist and an intellectual par excellence.
The National Executive Committee met this afternoon to condole the demise of Mr Patodia. During the meeting some Past Presidents and other members paid glowing tributes to the departed soul and shared their rich experience of working with Mr Patodia. During his tenure as President, Mr Patodia took up various issues relating to demand constraints which was a limiting factor for stepping up production. He also made several constructive suggestions to the government on how to improve availability of power, restructure customs duty, allow faster modernization of industry, rationalization of labour force and introduction of anti-dumping duties. Most of the suggestions made by FICCI under his leadership were taken seriously and actioned by the government.
Mr Patodia was also an elected Member of Parliament from the Jalore Constituency, Rajasthan, in 1967.
Mr Patodia's commitment and support towards FICCI's activities was
commendable. In his demise FICCI has lost one of the great supporters and the
Business community of India has lost one of the great leaders.
