Council and Business Forum

DELHI, 03 May 2023: Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for Ministry of
External Affairs and Education, Govt of India, yesterday while addressing
the virtual 'SCO Business Forum' organized by FICCI, highlighted
a few pertinent points on India's endeavour for skill upgradation, citing
example of the Skill India programme. He also mentioned India's focus on
reaching the net zero goal and mentioned that India has promised to cut its
emissions to net zero by 2070 at the 26 COP summits.
The virtual session of SCO Business Forum
was attended by speakers from India, People's Republic of China, the Russian
Federation, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Group of Observer nations,
Dialogue partners and Guest attendances were other participants. FICCI received
an overwhelming participation of 41 participants.
The
First Session on 'Business Connectivity through Trade Events and Conventions in
SCO' saw speakers from the SCO countries speak about the importance of holding
exhibitions and trade fairs to bridge the knowledge gap about various products
and product prices in various countries.
Mr Pradeep Singh Kharola, CMD, ITPO, Ministry of Commerce and
Industry, Govt of India, spoke about bridging the connectivity gap through
exhibitions and trade fairs. "Business Connectivity could be enhanced by organising
exhibitions and trade fairs that will bridge the knowledge gap," he added. Mr
Kharola also suggested that SCO countries have very specific and
intrinsic potential that makes interaction between countries complimentary and
not competitive, thus enabling the scope of perfect synergy and a win-win
situation for all SCO countries.
The
second session on 'Synergies in IT and ITES: Strengths and Opportunities in SCO
Countries' focused on the scope of IT and ITES in the SCO region and discussed
the challenges related to artificial intelligence and cyber security.
Dr
Pavan Duggal,
Conference Director, International Conference on Cyberlaw, Metaverse, and Law,
spoke about the business opportunity of the IT/ITeS sector in the form of
providing services in cyber security, data regulation and management, and data
storage.
Mr Andrey Neznamov, Managing Director of the Artificial
Intellect Regulation Centre in SBERBANK, discussed the challenges brought by
artificial intelligence and suggested that ethics and regulation should go hand
in hand with business expansion.
The
Third Session on 'Towards a Clean and Green SCO Region for Sustainable
Development' addressed the urgent usage of green energy to combat climate
change challenges.
Mr HK Das, General Manager, Union Bank, highlighted
the scope of green financing and discussed the initiatives taken by Union Bank
in this aspect. He spoke about initiatives like green deposits, concessions to
the MSME sector in the installation of solar panels, and credit concessions in
areas of accessing.
During
the concluding remarks, Mr
Tribhuvan Darbari, Chairman of the SCO Business Council,
India & Managing Director & CEO, Texmaco Defence Systems Pvt Ltd. and
Chief Executive, Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd., Resident Director,
Fertilizer Group of Companies (Adventz Group) Board Director, Simon India
Limited (Adventz Group) on behalf of FICCI proposed to set-up SCO centre
for excellence for emerging technologies.
He
also suggested establishment of a working group in the SCO in the sector of
IT/ITeS to foster knowledge exchange for human development and business growth
and maintain an ethical regulation of the scope of IT. He suggested to host a
physical program on 'Women Empowerment for Entrepreneurship development' and
Business Connectivity through trade events & conventions in SCO during the
year 2023-24. In addition to that, it is also deemed pertinent to organize a
program on "Medical Value Travel" on the side-lines of FICCI flagship event
Advantage healthcare India.
