Azim Premji Emphasises Hard Work, Integrity, and Simplicity in Business for Societal Impact

NEW DELHI, December 8, 2023: Speaking at the session titled ‘Business with a Purpose,’ at FICCI’s 96th Annual General Meeting & Annual Convention, Mr Azim H. Premji, Founder Chairman of Wipro, underlined the fundamental principles that businesses must embrace to achieve financial success and make a positive societal impact. "The key pillars for business with purpose are Hard work, Integrity, and Simplicity," he added, emphasising the need for ethical and fair business practices that go beyond mere profit-making.
Mr Premji underscored the fundamental principles that businesses must embrace not only to achieve financial success but also make a positive societal impact. He also highlighted the critical role of true commitment in driving positive change within society. He argued that businesses must adopt a solution-oriented approach to tackle contemporary challenges, including climate change and environmental issues. Drawing from his vast experience, he shared personal values that he believes are essential for business leaders. “Being genuinely committed towards your business vision and humility is of utmost importance,” he stated.
The talk by Premji comes at a time when the global business landscape is increasingly recognising the importance of sustainable and ethical practices.
Mr Subhrakant Panda, President, FICCI, emphasised the importance of sensitivity towards the planet, society, and communities, as it has become paramount, and businesses are increasingly recognizing the interconnectedness of their actions with broader social and environmental ecosystems.
Mr Sanjiv Mehta, Immediate Past President, FICCI and President Commissioner, Unilever Indonesia and Dr Sangita Reddy, Past President, FICCI and Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group, also spoke on occasion, emphasising that purpose is an integral part of the business.
