Feb 24, 2024

HE Mr Costas Fragkogiannis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Greek MFA yesterday said that Karnataka is one of the most industrialized states in India with significant potential for business co-operation. It’s home to major technology hubs like Bengaluru, which is often referred to as the Silicon Valley of India due to its thriving IT industry, he added.

Addressing the ‘India-Greece Business Forum’, organized by FICCI, Deputy Minister said that Karnataka has a diverse industrial landscape encompassing sectors such as aerospace, biotechnology, manufacturing, and automotive, contributing significantly to the state’s economy and overall development. “There are several potential business opportunities between India and Greece, particularly in sectors such as tourism, technology, renewable energy, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals. Both countries have vibrant economies and offer opportunities for bilateral trade and investment,” he added.

Mr Fragkogiannis further stated that both countries have recognized the potential for expanding bilateral trade and have been actively working towards strengthening economic ties. Efforts to further enhance trade cooperation through agreements, trade missions, and business summits have also contributed to the positive trajectory of the bilateral trade relationship, he highlighted.

He also said that the Indian economy has been experiencing significant growth, driven by various factors such as demographic dividends, technological advancements, and policy reforms. This growth has created numerous opportunities for domestic and foreign investment across various sectors including technology, infrastructure, healthcare, renewable energy, and manufacturing, he noted.

During the day, FICCI conducted over 200 B2B meetings across sectors like energy, defence, tourism, ICT, F&B, construction and electronics.
