FICCI organizes for the first time ‘GLOBAL MANAGEMENT CHALLENGE INTERNATIONAL FINAL’ - World’s Largest Strategy and Management Competition

NEW DELHI, 27 September 2024: The All-India Organisation of Employers (AIOE), an allied body of FICCI in collaboration with Simuladores e Modelos de Gestao (SDG)Portugal, yesterday organized an interactive session ‘Global Management Challenge International Finals’ with IIFT as the academic partner of the event.

Global Management Challenge is the world’s largest strategy and management competition, and the biggest annual event based on Business Simulation that is today present in more than 20 countries worldwide and participated by more than 25000 managers each year. The International Final, where the winning teams of each country compete for the World Title, is a milestone and prestigious event, which provides a unique experience of contact between different cultures and the reality of competing at an international level. It is for the first time that a GMC International Finals shall take place in India, having previously organized in countries like Spain, Portugal, Russia, Angola, Romania etc.

Speaking during the session Mr Sanjay Bhatia, Past President, AIOE emphasized the significance of India hosting this prestigious event for the first time. He noted that the event reflects India's growing prominence in the global business arena, a testament to its talent and economic potential. Mr Bhatia underscored the role of such competitions in preparing future leaders capable of navigating complex business challenges while contributing to India's larger vision of becoming a global economic powerhouse. The event also marks a decade since the launch of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, which has propelled deeper global engagement. AIOE and FICCI remain committed to nurturing global collaboration, driving innovation, and setting industry benchmarks that align with India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation.

Mr João Matoso Henriques, CEO of SDG, highlighted GMC's global impact since its inception in Portugal in 1980, with around one million participants across 30+ countries. The competition, a digital platform for developing management skills, involves university students and professionals from various fields. He further mentioned that this year’s international final marks the first in India. Over the next two days, teams from 12 countries will compete for the title of International Winner, with results announced at the closing ceremony.
