Workshop on ā€˜Adoption & Implementation of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industriesā€™ in Ahmedabad

Oct 18, 2024

AHMEDABAD, 18 October 2024: In line with India’s commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2070, FICCI jointly with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC), organised a workshop on the ‘Adoption & Implementation of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries’ aimed to promote the adoption of energy-efficient technologies that can play a key role in decarbonisation and reducing industrial energy costs.

The workshop attracted over 100 participants from designated consumers, large energy-intensive industries, SMEs, technology providers and start-ups, highlighting the significant potential of advanced energy-efficient technologies in cutting operational costs and supporting environmental sustainability goals.

Mr Girja Shankar, General Manager (Technical) at EESL, discussed EESL’s portfolio of 11 energy-efficient technologies, of which 9 have been validated. These include Waste Heat Recovery Systems (WHRS), IE4 motors, heat pumps, and industrial automation, all of which have been instrumental in improving energy performance across various sectors.

Mr Sanjay Dubey, CEO & President of IIEC, set the context for the day’s discussions. Mr Prashant Kumar, Head-CDP & CGM, EESL, stressed on the importance of energy-efficient technology adoption across industries.

The workshop focused on the energy savings potential of energy-efficient technologies and explored the challenges and opportunities for adopting super-efficient technologies in energy-intensive sectors. It also shared successful case studies of energy-efficient technology implementations across various sectors, and support mechanisms from EESL, energy service companies and technology vendors to accelerate the adoption of such technologies.

Business-to-Business Meetings was also organised with 10 industry representatives and Super ESCO – Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), IIEC and other Technology Providers.

The deliberations focused on:

•               Energy savings potential of these technologies (a list of EE technologies on offer is provided in the attached E-Flyer)

•               Explore challenges and opportunities for adopting super-efficient technologies in energy-intensive sectors

•               Sensitize stakeholders on existing and upcoming EESL programs and share successful case studies of energy-efficient technology implementations across various sectors. What is the support/intervention expected from EESL/ESCOs/Vendors for streamlining implementation or adoption of EE Technologies.

•               Seek interest from industries to adopt energy-efficient technologies at their facilities in collaboration with EESL.

•               Interactive Session(s) between Industry, EESL, ESCOs, and Technology Providers
