FICCI Sports-LIBERO Sports India Report on Foreign Investment in Indian Football

October 2012 | Sports
The past few years have witnessed much growth in investment by foreign entities in Indian football. There have been broadly five kinds of foreign investors- Federations/Associations, Professional clubs, Private organizations, Consumer brands and Human resources, essentially players and coaches.

The majority of this investment has been developmental in nature rather than commercial, thereby benefitting Indian football at the grassroots level as in some cases, even the senior national team directly.

While professional clubs have invested in the most number of initiatives so far, with no less than 15 top European clubs having invested in India, FIFA leads in terms of financial investment made in Indian football, having pumped in about $10 million already in the past few years.

This report discusses about these technical renaissancee and Foreign Investment in Indian Football in detail.
