Cotton 2020: Roadmap for Sustainable Production

Cotton is the livelihood for 60 million Indians including 6 million farmers mostly small and marginal. India hosts one third of the global acerage of cotton but accounts for less than one fifth of the global production. Current average yield of around 500 kg/ha is significantly lower compared to other major economies like Brazil, China, USA etc.

A vision paper on Cotton till year 2020 stresses upon ways of achieving sustainable 1000 kilo/ hectare lint yield.
