Knowledge Paper on Doubling the Rate of Energy Efficiency of Indian Industry by 2030

April 2024 | Resource Conservation & Management (RCM)

Abstract: Energy efficiency is crucial for sustainable development, particularly in rapidly industrializing countries like India. With its growing economy and increasing industrial output, India faces significant energy challenges, including rising energy demand, supply constraints, and environmental concerns. Doubling the rate of energy efficiency in Indian industries is imperative to mitigate these challenges, enhance competitiveness, and achieve sustainable growth. This paper examines the current state of energy efficiency in Indian industries, identifies key barriers, and proposes strategies to double the rate of energy efficiency within this sector. Drawing upon case studies, policy analysis, and best practices from other countries, this paper provides actionable recommendations for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and practitioners to accelerate progress towards a more energy-efficient industrial sector in India.
